... To any of you who have been through art school, whether it was high school or college classes, is it normal for students to end up leaving their assignments to the night before they're due? It's been 3 weeks in now and I still can't bring myself to do half the boring rubbish they ask me to do the day I receive the handouts.
I'm not a bad student, or artist, but I can't help but wonder why people actually pay money to go to art school (luckily for me, I was offered a scholarship). This program was also apparently really difficult to get into and is even more so difficult to complete. Could'a fooled me.
Every night, there's a new time-consuming assignment with absolutely NO BENEFIT TO ME WHATSOEVER. I'm not learning anything. I just go draw more buildings, add more colours, deal with more people that belong in high school and hope that after these non-stop four semesters I'll have a piece of paper that says "this one can draw good and stuff".
So! After a week of putting things off and barely even thinking of what I'll do with said assignment(s), I sit down at quarter to midnight, the night before, and lazily mash together basic ideas and boring requirements until satisfied with the god awful product and crawl back into bed shortly thereafter.
The next day I go up to the professor and hand over my work like, "I made a thing," but apparently they like when you explain why you drew that building to look like a paenus so you talk and make stuff up on the spot and the professor is so frigging impressed and gives you a mark of 80% and-
This is it. This is my life for the next year.
(TL;DR - If you don't want to go to art school, don't worry - .)
